Cardhu Distillery, previously called Cardow, is located high on the hills on the north side of the Spey Valley. Legally established in 1824 (but in production since 1811), the distillery was founded by John Cumming and his wife Helen, who reportedly created the first gallon of Cardhu Scotch.
