Though many do not know, India is one of the top three consumers of Single Malt whisky and like Japan, over the years they have embarked to develop their own world class distilleries. According to Indian Mythology, when Gods and Rakshasas - the demons - churned the oceans using the mountain Meru as churner, a golden pot sprang out containing the Elixir of Life (alcohol). That elixir was known as the "Amrut" and a fitting name for India's premier distillery. Created to produce whiskies matching world standards, Amrut is made from selected Indian barley grown at the feet of the Himalayas, nurtured by the waters flowing there and cultivated by old and traditional agricultural practices.
