6 Tipsy Tips To Throw A Tequila Christmas Party

Why not turn your dinner party into a Tequila party this Christmas? Not only is it easy but also a lot of fun! You don’t need to do a sit down dinner this year. All you need is your booze and some basic food. We got you covered with the tips what and how to serve.

1. Choose Your Tequila

Available as per age, Tequila can be found from the youngest (like blanco) to oldest (extra añejo). Try including various types of Tequila from different producers like añejo and silver.

2. Prep Up

Make sure you have the right equipment. Keep room temperature water in jugs or bottles and a spit bucket for each guest. You can also keep coffee beans in bowls for guests to cleanse their olfactory tracts between tastings and enjoy each drink effectively.

You can use stemmed glasses with a short bowl instead of shot ones. Clean them thoroughly before you lay them down.

3. Follow An Order

Bring out the youngest to the oldest. Example, bring out the blancos first.

4. Tasting Tips

The Tequila you bring out should be of room temperature. Each pour should be around ½ ounce.

How to go ahead with the tasting-

#1 Hold the glass against light and notice the colour of the drink. Reposado should be golden while añejo should be golden- amber.

#2 Swirl the Tequila in its glass and hold the rim ½ inch from your nose. Sniff it. You should be able to smell apple or pear or vanilla, caramel, butterscotch, brown sugar, chocolate, toffee and honey in case of añejo.

#3 Swirl it again and place the glass directly to your nose to sniff. You should be able to identify the sweet aromas and the dominant alcohol vapors.

#4 Tilt the glass towards you after swirling it once more. Sniff on the far side of the glass and take in the sweet- spicy aromas. You will smell notes of pineapple, pepper or mint in blanco and anejo will exhibit notes of spice and oak.

5. Experience

Take a sip of the Tequila and let it rest in your mouth. Allow it to coat your tongue. Swallow it down and exhale slowly through your mouth which will release the alcohol vapors and subtle down the ‘burn’.

Analyse the Tequila as it can be mellow, smooth, light or full- bodied. The flavours that will linger on your palate have a longer finish.

6. Don’t Forget The Food

Plan food to be served after the tasting. Serve mini foods which will complement the Tequila. Fresh tropical fruits, smoky salsas and tostadas are complementary to the spirit. You can serve chocolates and cinnamon or vanilla flavor based bites for añejos.

Set up the ambience with cosy cushions and don’t forget to light up the Christmas tree! Jazz up the vibe by putting on some great music. You can also keep a colour dress code and try asking your friends to wear Santa caps for amazing pictures. They will surely love it. Drink up and get ready for a boozy night!
